REGENERATIVE MEDICINE THERAPY…
Regenerative Medicine Including The Use Of Stem Cells…A Breakthrough In Pain Relief!
Imagine if your body could regenerate damaged joints. Regenerative medicine does just that. It works naturally to give the body the ability to repair itself. Typical medical treatments only address the symptoms causing pain. Regenerative Medicine Therapy on the other hand actually regenerates tissue. By reducing inflammation, Human Cell and Tissue Products (HCT/P) quickly ease pain and restore mobility by creating the dynamic environment needed inside the body to trigger tissue and joint regeneration. At Syracuse Medical, we take an integrated approach to wellness. Regenerative Medicine Therapy including the use of stem cells fits well with our philosophy by providing an alternative therapy which addresses the source of the problem causing the damage.
What Is Regenerative Medicine Therapy?
Our Regenerative Medicine Therapy procedures utilize more than just stem cells. Over time our tissues can become damaged due to age, injury, and disease. Fortunately, every person is born with the building blocks capable of repairing and replenishing tissue. But as we age these regenerative characteristics are dramatically reduced. Regenerative medicine and stem cells aim to optimize the body’s ability to heal itself. By using umbilical cord tissue from the Wharton’s Jelly Layer (where you find the stem cells), our Regenerative Medicine Therapy procedures are highly successful in combating chronic joint pain that includes knee pain and shoulder pain. Using this new therapy, we offer our patients a combination of regenerative components, or building blocks, for healing and restoring their joint health:
- A high concentration of mesenchymal stem cells
- Hyaluronic acid to lubricate joints and enhance movement
- Cellular growth factors essential for building new joint tissue
- Scaffolding proteins to stabilize the new tissues being formed
- Cytokines for helping to reduce inflammation

Regenerative Medicine Therapy doesn’t mask the pain, it helps to take it away. This therapy utilizes a Human Cell and Tissue Product (derived from the Wharton’s Jelly Layer of the umbilical cord) injection directly into the damaged area. This allows the cells to immediately go to work to REPAIR, REGENERATE, RESTORE and CUSHION the damaged area and attack the pain with the ability to alter the course of the condition being treated. Regenerative medicine procedures utilizing stem cells, growth factors and cytokines have a very high success rate for those suffering from joint pain due to the reduction of pain and inflammation in the joints while rebuilding the diseased tissues simultaneously.
How Does Regenerative Medicine Therapy Using Stem Cells Work?
At Syracuse Medical, our regenerative medicine and stem cell procedures use Human Cell and Tissue Product derived from the Wharton’s Jelly Layer of the umbilical cord which includes mesenchymal stem cells, cytokines, growth factors, hyaluronic acids and scaffolding proteins to reduce inflammation for pain relief while working to simultaneously repair the damaged tissue causing the pain. These regenerative (stem) cells are already present naturally in the human body. They are defined as young “preprogrammed” cells. With our regenerative medicine, we combine mesenchymal stem cells with a unique blend of cytokines, growth factors and scaffolding properties to create the ideal healing environment in your body. We do this because as you age, your stem cells become less effective for healing and repairing tissues in your body. At Syracuse Medical we use allogeneic Human Cell and Tissue Product (from donor to recipient) to help repair the damages joints and tissues. By creating the right environment we are able to initiate the rebuilding and healing process quickly. Once injected into the affected area, the cells begin to mature and multiply in number to help the body REGENERATE the damaged joint or tissue.
Where Does The Human Cell And Tissue Product Come From?
There are no ethical issues that arise from our regenerative medicine procedures because we do not use embryonic stem cells or fetal tissue. The HCT/Ps we use are carefully collected from thoroughly screened, full-term scheduled c-sections. Once donated, the Wharton’s Jelly, placenta

Answers To Your Questions About Regenerative Medicine Therapy & Stem Cells
What Are Stem Cells?
Stem cells have the ability to repair, rebuild, and rejuvenate tissues in the body. When a disease or injury strikes, stem cells respond to specific signals and set about to facilitate the healing process by stimulating your own body to repair itself.
How Do Stem Cells Work?
Stem cells that come from umbilical cord tissue (healthy post-natal C-sections) have distinct functional properties including immune-modulation and anti-inflammatory capabilities which support the repair and regeneration of damaged tissue associated with disease and injury.
What Are The Different Types Of Stem Cells?
There are four known types of stem cells…
- Embryonic stem cells(FDA restricted and Illegal)
- Fetal stem cells (FDA restricted and Illegal)
- Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) (Require FDA drug approval)
- Mesenchymal stem cells(FDA regulated and legal)
We provide Allogeneic Mesenchymal Stem Cells, Growth Factors, Cytokines, Scaffolding Proteins and Hyaluronic Acid from healthy post-natal (full term) C-sections.
How Are The Human Cell and Tissue Products We Use Collected?
Our Regenerative Medicine Therapy is a revolutionary breakthrough for people suffering from debilitating pain caused by joint damage, inflammation, sports injuries, and soft tissue injuries affecting their mobility. We only use HCT/Ps derived from the Wharton’s Jelly Layer of the umbilical cord for this therapy from healthy full-term, live birth scheduled c-section donors. The HCT/Ps are then used for homologous use (performs the same basic function in the recipient as in the donor) in our patients.
When Does Our Body Use Its Own Stem Cells?
We tap into our body’s stem cell reserve daily to repair and replace damaged or diseased tissue. When the body’s reserve is limited it becomes depleted causing the regenerative power of our body to decrease and we succumb to disease and injury.
What Are The Sources Of Stem Cells From One's Own Body?
There are three sources of stem cells from a patient’s body used clinically. These include adipose tissue (fat), bone marrow and umbilical cord tissue (Wharton’s Jelly).
What Diseases And Conditions Can Be Treated With Stem Cells?
We provide regenerative medicine therapy for a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions for which traditional treatment offers less than optimal options. Some conditions include Osteoarthritis, Bursitis, Plantar Fasciitis and Sports Injuries. Consult with us to see if your condition may be helped.
Is Regenerative Medicine Therapy Using Stem Cells Safe?
Yes. It is a very safe option for you. The laboratory we utilize for our HCT/Ps follows rigorous FDA 361 guidelines to ensure that all of their regenerative medicine products are safe.
Am I A Candidate For A Regenerative Medicine Allograft?
In order to determine if you are a good candidate for Regenerative Medicine Therapy, you will need to complete a medical history form which will be provided by our patient advocate team. Once you complete and submit your medical history form, our medical team will review your records and determine if you are a qualified candidate for regenerative medicine therapy.
How Long Will It Take To See Results?
Since each condition and patient is unique, there is no guarantee of what results will be achieved or how quickly they may be observed. According to patient feedback, the majority of patients report positive results in one to three months; however, the healing process continues for up to 18 months. Remember rebuilding the body takes time, but regenerative procedures are worth the investment. The good news is getting healthy is always a faster process than degeneration. Individuals interested in regenerative medicine therapy are urged to come in for a consultation to see if their condition can be improved by allogeneic Human Cell and Tissue Product (HCT/P).
What Determines The Outcome Of My Regenerative Medicine Therapy?
Patient compliance is important. In order to get the best results, you must follow our recommendations.
What Can I Do To Increase The Effectiveness Of My Therapy?
If you follow the recommendations we give you this will increase the effectiveness of your procedure.
Should I Expect There To Be Downtime After My Regenerative Medicine Procedure?
Are There Any Known Side Effects To The Procedure?
The side effects of intra-articular injection of a regenerative medicine allograft are minimal, rare and may include but are not limited to: infection, minor bleeding at the treatment sites and localized pain. However, these side effects typically last no longer than 24 hours.
How Long Will It Take To Repair The Damaged Area?
The repair process begins immediately after your procedure and the healing will continue for up to 1 year.
Will Regenerative Medicine Reduce My Pain?
Yes. Once we determine you are a candidate for Regenerative Medicine Therapy, we will give you a customized program to help your condition repair. The majority of people feel significant, or total relief, from their pain. In a recent study conducted by a stem cell manufacturer, in a group of over 60 patients, it was found that the average person’s pain scale was able to be reduced from an 8 to 0 after just 5 weeks.
Are There Any Moral Or Religious Issues With Regard To Regenerative Medicine Allografts ?
No. We provide Human Cell and Tissue Products from an FDA 361 regulated laboratory in Utah. They obtain their allografts from healthy full term C-section births. Embryonic stem cells are typically associated with ethical concerns. We do not offer embryonic stem cells. They are illegal.
Are These Regenerative Allografts FDA Approved? Are They Legal?
Our regenerative medicine allografts are regulated as human cell and tissue transplants, similar to skin and bone. As structural human cell and tissue products regulated under FDA CFR 1271 Part 361, our allografts do not require FDA approval, rather the guidelines for harvesting and processing the cells are strictly regulated to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and to maintain the structural integrity of the allografts as they’re harvested from umbilical cords and transferred for musculoskeletal cushioning, protection and supplementation. These regenerative allografts are FDA regulated rather than FDA approved. The FDA is a regulatory oversight body and doesn’t exercise legal authority. If an FDA regulated tissue transplant laboratory is noted as non-compliant and not corrected according to FDA guidelines, the FDA may refer a significant public health risk to the Department of Justice or state attorney general about that laboratory; consequently, the laboratory we utilize has never had a violation and we are proud to use their regenerative products because of this fact.
Does This Treatment Work 100% Of The Time?
No procedure has a 100% success rate, but regenerative medicine procedures are much more successfully and far less risky than drugs or surgery.
Why Don’t We Use Amniotic Stem Cells?
Although stem cells are found throughout our bodies, mesenchymal stem cells can only be harvested for native (non-cultured) use from adipose, bone marrow and umbilical cord tissue. The term “amniotic stem cells” is a misnomer because amniotic fluid does not contain stem cells; however, amniotic fluid does contain unique cytokines and other growth factors which can be used for other purposes.
Is Regenerative Medicine Therapy Covered By Insurance?
Regenerative Medicine treatments are not covered by health insurance at this time and we do not expect them to be in the future as Medicare deemed regenerative medicine procedures as elective. Insurance companies do not cover “elective procedures”. For your convenience we have financing options available including interest free options. We also offer a prepayment courtesy discount.
